I just wanted to write to you and thank the POW Primary Care Nursing Team for the care they have taken with my son since late 2021. It's been a long haul and the nurses (particularly Selina and Maggie, but really all of them) have played a very large part in his recovery.
He was admitted to POW with necrotizing fasciitis in late October 2021 and came home at the beginning of December with lots of skin grafts to be looked after. The team has taken him all the way, and I feel that's largely the result of the care and genuine concern they showed for his health over that time - both physical and mental.
The team visited every day to start with (including Christmas Day) and in the beginning were here for long periods tending to his grafts. Eventually they showed me how to do it over the weekend when we were down to a couple of times a week. The nurses even arranged to come late on New Year's Day (and a couple of other times) as my son was going to a friend's place for a bit of celebration - I believe they arranged for him to be the last visit on those days as he might be a bit the worse for wear.
Although my son was unlucky to have to go through all this, he was very lucky to meet and be cared for by such thoroughly professional people. Based on our experience, they are dedicated in their service to the community and I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for my family and to put my son back together again.
My son was lucky to live in a city where the level of care is extraordinarily high. His ultimate complete recovery is down to all the health professionals we met on this journey and your team played a very significant role in that recovery.
I will be forever grateful to them.
