About: Royal Perth Hospital / Inpatient & Outpatient Pharmacy

(as a service user),

Recently, I went RPH to pick up some medication from the pharmacy. I thought it was on the ground floor not far from the main entrance, but it had been moved. I asked about a dozen staff where I could find the pharmacy and you won't believe it, it seemed nobody could help.

I walked the hospital floor for over an hour before I came across an angel who went out of her way to point me in the right direction.

Based on my experience, it would be nice for management to inform the staff of any changes.

Suitable signs will help the public find their way around, in my opinion.

Dear sagittaej36,

I do appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us and was disappointed to hear of the difficulties you encountered.

I can confirm that both Royal Perth Hospital’s (RPH) inpatient and outpatient Pharmacy Departments have not recently moved locations. Inpatient Pharmacy is positioned inside the main hospital for ease of supplying patients with medications while they are admitted to the hospital or on discharge. Patients are not required to attend the inpatient Pharmacy in person as medications are supplied directly to the patient at their location within the hospital.

RPH’s outpatient Pharmacy Department is accessible to the public and located at 196 Goderich Street, the same building as the outpatient clinics and conveniently situated near the entrance. Goderich Street offers a friendly concierge service on entry to ensure timely directions are provided to assist patients and members of the community as efficiently as possible.

RPH is committed to providing the highest quality of customer service and I would like to sincerely apologise that your experience has not been a positive one.

If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please contact RPH Consumer Engagement Unit on 9224 1637 during business hours or via email: RPBG.feedback@health.wa.gov.au.

Kind Regards,

Dr Lesley Bennett

Executive Director
