"Rapid Antigen Testing"

About: Fremantle Hospital and Health Service

(as the patient),

I understand that Microbiologist Paul Griffin, says that RAT tests are efficient when we have the first symptoms of COVID.

Well…I am a patient at FH and every day I go home returning late in the afternoon to my bed. I had a period that no RAT testing was necessary, and never was a problem, but, suddenly it is necessary.

My question is…how can RAT detect COVID in me if I were infected that afternoon?

I find it a waste of time and resources, and a laughable rule when compared with the findings of Paul Griffin.

Dear wearingdx59

Thank you for your feedback.

At Fremantle Hospital we are following guidelines set by the WA State Government, which do change over time, based on best practice and designed to protect our vulnerable patient population. RATs are convenient, quick, and can be used alongside other important public health measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

I understand it may be inconvenient, so I thank you for kindly following the testing rules. You can find more information here: COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty
