I registered with NSW health when I tested positive for Covid. As an older person with all relatives interstate, and just my husband at home, I was quite worried about how the illness would develop and was feeling very vulnerable. Yet only a few hours after I registered, I had a phone call from a nurse at the Covid Care Centre which runs out of Prince of Wales Hospital.
She checked all of my symptoms and arranged for an oximeter to be sent to my home and it arrived the same day - I was amazed at the efficiency! Each morning for a full week thereafter I received a telephone consultation with one of the centre’s nurses which I not only managed the progress of the illness, but went a long way to allay my anxiety since I was pretty ill at its height.
The nurses I dealt with were all without exception, thorough, professional, kind and lovely. At the time of writing this I have almost fully recovered, aided by this wonderful support system. I am so grateful to them all and that we have Medicare in our country. A huge thank you to all of the fabulous nurses that I dealt with.
