"Planned Activity Group enrolment"

About: Community Support Services (Bass Coast Health)

(as other),

A client of mine has been a long term attendee of PAG groups via BCH, they have a physical disability and is very isolated socially and has no transport, this group means the world to them. I believe my client has been excluded from attending once the program recommenced after COVID restrictions eased because they are also an NDIS participant and BCH have stated they do not know how to complete the necessary processes and paperwork for an NDIS participant to attend. To my knowledge, they also charge a higher rate to NDIS participants wanting to attend.

I have made numerous attempts to rectify this via phone and email and now have radio silence, I feel my client is being socially excluded from a public service that I believe they are entitled to attend. I offered the simple solution of enrolling them as a public client rather than NDIS as I feel this really should be irrelevant and have asked for justification as to why my client will be charged more as they have NDIS funding. At the time of writing this, still radio silence.

Dear magpieky97,

Thanks for reaching out through the portal to get some resolution. I wonder if you could text me your clients name and DOB (0472 846 355) and I will follow up with the team. I know that we have had extraordinary rates of leave in the community teams' over the past weeks, including some of the senior team. This may have impacted our follow up. I also know we are way behind on processing referrals because of this unprecedented sick leave.

The team are doing all they can at the moment and we are hoping that things will improve over the coming weeks. Our staff are well aware of the NDIS paperwork so I don't see that as a problem - I suspect it is that we are running very lean - but text me and I will get back to you.

Thanks for clearly being a great advocate for your client. They are very lucky to have you.

Kindest Regards,

Jan
