My father was admitted to the POW Hospital after falling over in his home a few days earlier.
He was found lying at the bottom of his internal stairs by my brother and we believe he had been there for 36-48 hours. He had life threatening injuries and his surgery that night to repair his broken femur was touch and go with a 5% chance of making it.He was COVID positive, suffering from pneumonia, a bludging disc in his neck and had also had a heart attack. After spending 12 days in isolation due to COVID he was transferred to Dickinson North.
The care he received in this ward was outstanding.
From Drs (Lucy) to the wonderful, friendly nurses (shout out to Jess) who told me she treats every patient like it was her grandparent to the Physio’s who encouraged dad to walk on his walker with genuine care.
This was so comforting and reassuring as most of dad's family live in QLD.
I am so thankful and grateful.
