"Another depressing experience at an ED"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Emergency Department

(as other),

I had to take my partner to the emergency department as they were feeling terrible and in a lot of pain.

Having to go to the emergency department, I found the staff were rude, arrogant and lazy, seemingly preferring to spend their working time standing around and complaining about how over-worked they are.

I recall a perfect example of this was me explaining to the triage nurse how concerned I was for my partner, only for them to tell me they were doing their best, then to rudely tell me to get out of the triage area, then sat down and I believe they pulled out their phone to watch some TikTok videos.

The staff in our emergency departments, who I believe should be the best kind of people and those to admire and look up to, I found are simply the worst.

Dear omegacd45

I am very disappointed to hear you found our staff rude and lazy. Whilst the Emergency Department can be incredibly busy, we expect all staff to communicate with care and compassion. Some staff do use mobile devices for work related purposes, but certainly not for watching videos. Your feedback has been provided to the relevant managers. I do apologise for your experience and hope your partner is feeling better.

Kind regards

Kellie Blyth
