(as a carer),

I just wanted to express how much I appreciated help from the PATS office staff in Geraldton in particular Zahirah. My elderley father flew to Perth recently for a PET scan only to find out when he arrived at Perth airport to come home that the flight had been cancelled weeks before and no one had been notified.

Zahirah answered the phone when I called not long before she was leaving to go home and thankfully went out of her way to help us arrange another flight for the following morning for my father to come home. It was a very stressful time with the airline being no help in Perth and would not in any way help out with changing flights etc. I felt Zahirah went out of her way to contact the relevant people and organise another flight for us so we could get my father home which I am most grateful for.

The PATS office staff here in Geraldton have always been very helpful with anything I have needed regarding my father and I believe they deserve recognition for the support they give as it is wonderful.

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion. I hope your father is getting the treatment he requires.

I was delighted to read how appreciated Zahirah and the Geraldton PATS team are by you. It reflects her dedication that Zahirah was happy to stay and sort out your father’s travel arrangements, allowing him to get home to family.
