(as the patient),

Dear doctors, nurses, therapist and students,

Please excuse this very belated thank you note. I’ll be completing my TACP (home hospital) in a few weeks. Thank you for all the care and kindness given to me during my month in hospital earlier this year. With the staff shortage I understand you all have to work so much harder, it must be frustrating trying to keep up with the amount of records that must be kept, when at the same time someone is shouting out for help. I don’t know how you keep your sanity at times.

While I was in hospital I also saw the kindness offered to people with various kinds of mental illness, so very difficult to remain calm when there are so many other issues to deal with. I was also very impressed with the students who displayed the same kindness towards their patients.

Thank you to the cleaning staff and those delivering our much sought-after food. Thank you to the chefs and staff.

Hopefully it won’t be too long before conditions improve and more staff will be available to assist you all.
