"Heart condition"

About: Joondalup Health Campus / Cardiology Jurien Bay Health Centre

(as a relative),

Early one morning recently my wife woke with pain in her chest and asked me to take her to Jurien Bay medical centre. She was admitted by the ladies on duty Jo and Robyn. From that moment on the care she received was thorough and reassuring.

During a video conference the doctor was told my wife had an irregular heartbeat and he told us that wasn’t unusual for that to happen. Jo wasn’t happy with that and while she was monitoring my wife she observed my wife have a heart block for 20-30 seconds and started to make arrangements for my wife to be transferred to Joondalup. She was taken down to Joondalup by the Jurien Bay ambulance whose staff were very reassuring and friendly.

The medical staff at Joondalup told us Jo’s observation made all the difference in the situation which could have ended different. Just before going to have an angiogram my wife had another block and passed out, she has now had the angiogram and had a pacemaker fitted. Many thanks to Jo and Robyn, Jurien St John’s and CCU Joondalup.

Dear songthrushde46

Thank you for taking the time to share your story.

It was heartening to read that the persistence of the Jurien Bay Health nurses ensured your wife received the right care in the right place with the transfer to Joondalup Health Campus (JHC).

It is a pleasure that I get these opportunities to thank Jo and Robyn and all other staff involved for their diligence and high level of compassionate care. Jo will very much appreciate the feedback from the medical staff at JHC.

I will also ensure your story is passed on to St John’s Ambulance volunteers involved in your wife’s transfer.

Thank you again for sharing your story and please extend my best wishes to your wife.

Trenton
