About: Sale Hospital / Women's and Children's

(as the patient),

I felt the doctors never listened to me. I wanted a Caesarian and they said I didn’t need one. And then went for forceps and episiotomy which I stipulated I did not want! Then they did a manual placenta removal.

I have had on going incontinence issues/ partial prolapse since…

I have being doing physio therapy and it seems it isn’t working.

I feel embarrassed and useless. I feel like I cannot live my life anymore. I can’t work out or ride my horses without feeling like I’ll pee myself.

Based on my experience, I’m utterly deterred from having another child.

Dear decembertz38,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us, which is clearly distressing for you, and has impacted on your daily life. I sincerely apologise that this has been your experience. It is not what we aspire to.

The Nurse Managers of the Ward and I are keen to link with you so that we can further investigate and learn from your experience. And also to offer you further supports if that were appropriate for you.

If you feel comfortable in contacting me, that would be appreciated. My email is mandy.pusmucans@cghs.com.au and on phone 5143 8512.

I do hope that you will make contact.

Yours sincerely,

Mandy Pusmucans

Director of Nursing

Dear decembertz38

My name is Kim and I am one of the Nurse Unit Managers in our Women’s & Children's Unit.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us. It is concerning that the experience you describe does not align with the level of ‘excellence in care’ that we as a team aspire to provide.

I would welcome an opportunity to speak with you, as this will enable further investigation and improvement of systems or processes that are not working as they are intended to.

Learnings from patient feedback, where we have not done as well as we could have, provides an important opportunity for us to improve our care to future patients and their families.

Discussing your feedback will also help us to identify any additional supports we may be able to provide to assist in your recovery.

Please feel free to contact me any time at wac.num@cghs.com.au.

Kind Regards,

Kim
