For over 10 years, I had unsightly toenails and was told by a podiatrist in private practice that I had a fungus which could only be cured by immersing my feet in boiling water. There was nothing they could suggest or do to cure or repair them.
Several months ago, I developed tenderness and pain between two of my toes and earlier this month showed this to my GP. He referred me to the podiatrist clinic at the Albany Health Campus.
I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was given an appointment (the next day), with Tep.
Tep was very friendly, inspired confidence, and made me feel comfortable rather than embarrassed about my ugly duckling toenails. After he had looked at the xrays that had been taken the previous day and looking at my feet, he surprised me by telling me my 'fungus' was not a fungus at all but more related to pressure on my nails from shoes, as was the ulcer/calloused skin between my toes. He was informative and showed me pictures of what my nails would look like if I really did have a fungal infection.
In just this one appointment, Tep removed most of the hard skin between the toes that had been causing pain and cut and ground the unsightly calloused tops of my toenails. My relief from pain was instant. For several months I had been woken at night by the pain in my feet, especially the toes, and by removing the hard skin and making me a spacer to separate the 2 toes, it was wonderful to have a full night's sleep.
I saw Tep again recently for a follow up visit and again I was impressed by his professional and friendly attitude. I am so very thankful that he has solved my pain and toenail problems and given me advice on how to continue caring for my feet.
If there was a star rating system for medical professionals, their manner and their effectiveness, I would give Tep 10 out of 10.
