"Chemotherapy services"

About: Mallee

(as a friend),

Following on from a previous concern posted, I have a friend that has to go to Bendigo weekly for their treatment, with the hope of transferring to Kerang after a couple of these sessions. Recent flood events has meant that they have had one session cancelled so far and is now looking to get to Bendigo and having to stay there for next two weeks so they can ensure not missing more treatment sessions. What can we do as a community to help our local chemo patients with their needs, transport or accessibility. It is a very sad state of affairs that we can not offer this service at our hospital. I hope the hospital can make it a priority to fund the specialised training of a team of nurses to carry out this very important work. We need a team, not just one or two staff members, otherwise we will find ourselves always 'short staffed'. In my opinion, let's take responsibility for the care of our own community.
