"Most worthwhile rehabilitation program"

About: Lives Lived Well - Woolloongabba

(as a service user),

If you need help, please use this service.

My story is in relation to the 12 day (2 hours 30 minutes per day) program. In summary it is a most worthwhile rehabilitation program in my experience. The first week was mentally difficult for me as I came to the realisation that I suffer from anxiety and my only learnt response was to become angry, leading to unwinding with wine. This light bulbs moment I believe that I would have missed if I had continued with face to face counselling.  At the completion of the 12 days I feel in more control of my behavioural triggers, meaning that the urge to unwind with wine is diminished. With the offer to continue with face to face counselling, I will accept this offer.

Hi carinawy79,

Groups can be confronting at first. I am glad you were able to push through that and approach it obviously with the open mind that you have, so you could arrive at that magical light bulb moment. Whilst that new found awareness can be challenging, you have found this in an environment where you seem to have felt safe and supported. You have identified some triggers and some ways that you can control those. This is so good. The awareness of these is a major step towards finding tools and skills to use, and you are approaching this with a good mindset.
Please engage with our staff in the program if you wish to continue with face to face counselling, as there is no doubt benefit to continue to remain connected as you explore what works for you, and how you can use these new skills in your everyday life.

Please stay motivated, connected and thank you so much for taking the time to share your story with us, and also helping to empower anyone that might read this who is unsure about engaging in treatment.

Kind regards,

Craig
