"6 hours wait for no medical assistance"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My adult child recently attended the Emergency Department for an exacerbation of their asthma. They were following their asthma plan, which stipulated when they had to seek medical help. Their observations were taken twice by a nurse and my child waited six hours to see a doctor. After 6 hours, the chest pain had resolved and they discharged herself. My child felt that there were just not enough doctors.

My child has been at two other hospitals for similar events. Never did they have such experience in those busy hospitals.

Dear omegamb95,

Thank you for providing feedback on behalf of your child. I am keen to get a bit more info and I wonder, if they are of a suitable age, whether your child would be happy to chat to me and provide me with some details, or alternatively you might be able to ring me on 0472846355. Our ED has been extremely busy with some critically ill patients, and it sounds like your child was being monitored and supported by the nurses, but I am keen to get the detail to help me understand the circumstances. I look forward to hearing from you. I hope your child is doing ok.

Kind Regards, Jan
