Recently, my wife woke bleeding bad and feeling nauseated. She is from overseas and not been in Australia for a year yet. During the day she vomited everything she ate and had a few dizzy spells. She refused when I said I wanted to take her to see a doctor, and insisted she needs rest. On the following day she was the same, couldn't keep any food down, bad stomach cramps and fainting. I called her neice, who talked her into letting me take her to see doctor. By now it was that night. We drove to Pemberton hospital and was met by very friendly, helpful, understanding male nurse. He instantly made her feel at ease and relax, and also importantly explained everything he was going to do and test. Brett was his name. At the same time, he was handing over to the night shift nurse, Caroline, who was also very good.
They performed various tests, once again explaining everything.
After less than one hour, my wife had a needle, was given some take home medicine and simple instructions and we were walking out the door.
She was so relaxed and happy and I was so relieved.
Makes me feel so good to live in a district with a medical service like that. Especially after hours on a weekend.
The drive home was so enjoyably different from the drive there.
She had a small fruit salad when we got home and kept it her stomach, went to bed with a smile on her face and had a good sleep. As I am writing this, she is feeling much better, even though a bit tender, but good to see her enjoying breakfast and lunch and now preparing dinner.
Thank you Pemberton District Hospital and the fantastic service given by very competent friendly, professional staff
