"Disappointed in the care at hospital."

About: Wagga Wagga Base Hospital

(as a relative),

My dad was unwell and in hospital and he felt nauseous. I tried to get him a bag to throw up in but could not find any in any of the rooms. He started throwing up so I did my best to sit him up and vomit over the side of the bed but he did get it all over himself. I was ringing the bell, and had been for a while, and the gent in the bed next to dad was ringing his as well. We tried calling out but there did not seem to be any response. As I was worried dad might inhale his own vomit, the man in the bed next to dad managed to get himself out of bed and into the ward and call for help. Eventually a nurse came and seemed very curt with us. She did not appear to me to be happy that dad had vomited everywhere, which I can understand, but we were calling out for help for quite a few minutes. She eventually came in to clean him up, but not before it seems to me making it widely known down the hall what a mess she had to clean up and she needed to go on her break.

That is the other thing we noticed, it appeared to us that the nurses we saw all seem to complain about their breaks, when it was, when it last was, when it should be, who is next on their break....and it goes on. I understand you need breaks but when my dad is dying I really don't care about how "bad" you think you have it because your breaks is 5 minutes late.

I hope the nurses we saw don't get cared for by themselves, I think they would be as disappointed as we are. My dad has since passed away. I have no idea if the nurses got all their breaks.
