"My life changed, thanks to Lives Lived Well, Mirikai Rehabilitation Centre"

I was hooked as a teenager taking any substance I could get my hands on. I moved out of home as a young teenager and was lost and hurt and addicted to ice. I could not stop using and kept getting into trouble with the police. I was on probation and kept breaching my court order as I couldn't stop using. This is when Mirikai (Drug Addiction Treatment Centre) was suggested to me and I finally surrendered to the idea of getting clean.

Going to Mirikai was scary but it was the best choice I ever made. I learnt so much and made new friends there that were also in recovery, who have the same positive goals as me. We supported each other and where a family unit. We progressed through the program together. Eight months later I finally graduated as a confident young female who had hope and the tools and knowledge to live a clean and sober life; a life I never thought was possible for me.

I then moved into the a halfway house program, where I could take it easy and integrate back into society, I spent a lot of time at the beach, going for walks and doing support groups through NA.

I rebuilt a relationship with my family through family therapy with Matt at Lives Lived Well (LLW), Mirikai.

My life just continued to get better each day. I am grateful for the second chance I received through participating in and graduating from the programs at Mirikai.

I am now a few years clean and still have the support from the staff at Mirikai. I have a loving partner and a beautiful baby. I went on to study. We rent our own unit, go to work and own 2 cars. I owe all of this to Mirikai. They taught me how to live life clean. Today I am happy and I do not need to use. I am free from the obsession and compulsion.

I have had to face some hurdles since being in recovery, not everything has been easy, but I always have support since engaging with the services provided through Lives Lived Well Mirikai and other support programs who work alongside LLW. Kids in Focus has helped me a lot as well as Banjara Medical Centre. So I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff there as they really go above and beyond to educate, support and guide young people through their journey of recovery.
