"Bairnsdale regional health service"

About: Bairnsdale Hospital

(as the patient),

I recently presented to emergency as I was 7 weeks pregnant and bleeding. After a lengthy wait I was taken to be seen. As my situation was considered a non emergency we had to wait 3 hours to be seen. Never mind I could have been losing my baby but that is apparently not urgent.

By the time we got to see someone most of the doctors had gone home. We were seen by a doctor who I believe had absolutely no idea what to do with my situation. The doctor questioned me over and over with the same questions as I feel they just didn't know what to do. They then decided to give me an ultrasound with a machine that couldn't show my pregnancy as it was too early. They took more blood from me which severely bruised my arm. The doctor could barely speak English and was getting frustrated at my partner and I as we couldn't understand them. I was told nothing can be done and to go home and see my regular doctor the next day. Which I did and it turned out I had an ectopic pregnancy. This should be something that can be picked up in an ED.

The triage nurse when we arrived was absolutely lovely and when we arrived back the next day she came and wished us well which was such a nice thing to do.
