"Television service"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

I wonder why at SCGH you still have to pay for free to air TV.

As you do not know how long the patient is going to be in care for it is hard to work out how much to pay. And if the outcome is good, and you go home before you expect, you lose your money. Added to this, if the patient changes wards, beds etc there is the hassle of getting the service changed. I see no reason why TV should not be free to all patients as it seems to be in most other hospitals.

Dear Unforgettable Care

Thank you for raising your concerns regarding the lack of access to free to air TV at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. We acknowledge the importance of having access to television while in hospital, to act as both a distraction from treatment and to improve the patient experience.

Currently the provision of television services is provided by an external company and there is a cost to the patient. Hospital Executive are currently reviewing this arrangement in order to improve services and keep up with advances in technology. I will share your thoughts with the Executive, and once the review is complete I would be happy to provide additional information about the outcome.

Once again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Kind regards

Dr Theresa Marshall, Director of Safety, Quality and Performance
