"Pre-admission phone call"

About: Albany Health Campus

(as the patient),

I'm disappointed and frustrated that I did not receive a phone call on the day before my day surgery, to advise my time of arrival for surgery and the time I should start fasting from. I called the hospital at 3:00pm the day before and was advised that I would receive a phone call between 3:00pm - 6:00pm. This did not happen and I had to call again when I arrived home from work after 6:00pm, still not knowing what time I should start fasting.

Dear No Phone Call

Thank you for taking the time contact us via Patient Opinion. We value the feedback that we receive as it helps us to recognise areas for improvement or celebrate and share evidence of best practice. On this occasion you have identified an area in which we can improve.

I apologise that you did not receive a preadmission phone call. This is definitely not our normal practice. I have spoken to our Administration Manager to ensure all clerical and preadmission staff are aware of our current practices regarding phone calls prior to surgery.

If you would like to talk more about this, please call me on 9892 2620

I hope your surgery went to plan and that you have now fully recovered from you procedure.

Regards,

Juan Clark
