"Sandringham Hospital"

About: Sandringham Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

About Sandringham Hospital.

I’m pregnant - this is not my first baby. I went to the hospital for my 36 week appointment. I sat in front of doctor while they looked at my results. The doctor picked up the phone and said - I want to book an induction for next week. What the heck?I was in front of the doctor and they didn’t look at me to explain the results to me or even ask me if that was what I want.

I told the doctor that my parents, from overseas, where coming at the end of next week, and if the baby was fine I’d prefer to wait. The doctor looked at me and asked me, you have to choose parents or baby. I was petrified! Then the doctor showed me some paperwork to sign saying I was refusing the induction, and from now on whatever happens with my baby was my responsibility. I told the doctor I choose my baby, of course.

In less than 3 min she booked me in for an induction and I didn’t know why.

When I asked the doctor the steps of the procedure they walked me out and told me the midwives would explain everything to me the same day of it.

What the heck?

I feel so disappointed. I feel that doctor took control over my body and my rights. I’m sooo angry...
