"Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Perth - Feedback"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

(as the patient),

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to those who attended to me in the Emergency Department at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

I had broken my left wrist and was in severe pain. I would like to thank in particular Dr. Michael (Intern), Dr. John, Bridie (Nurse) and all other nurses who attended to me in the Emergency Department for their utmost care and concern. They waited patiently on me and explained all the procedures to my husband and myself in a thorough and detailed manner. Their professionalism and ethics were really outstanding.

As I had to undergo surgery a couple of days later, I would like to thank the receptionist Liz who was kind, courteous and helpful. As my wait in the admissions waiting area was long, Liz always kept coming to check whether the other patients and I were comfortable and brought blankets for us to keep warm. People like Liz really provide much needed calm and comfort whilst awaiting your turn to be called up for surgery. What a lovely lady!

After my surgery, I was warded in the Short Stay ward. Here again, I was amazed to see the care and attention of all the nurses and orderlies in the pre and post operative ward. I would like to thank in particular the nurses, Jeannie and Deryn. Their care, patience and understanding were remarkable. They went out of the way to make me comfortable and at ease. Both of them were outstanding and pampered me thoroughly. What struck me most was their cheerful disposition and happy faces. A special mention to Jeanie for making sure I was warm after the operation, as I was freezing and special mention to Deryn for tirelessly taking me to the toilet for fear I would pass out. They were awesome!!

The experience I had in the trauma plaster clinic two weeks later was also fantastic. Julie who removed my cast, showed me the pre-operative and post operative scans and explained the expected recovery process. She was patient, kind and professional and answered all my obvious concerns. I am amazed at the whole experience at SCGH and can only thank God for such wonderful medical professionals at SCGH.

Thank you for your time and patience in reading this letter.

Yours sincerely.

Dear JL Perth

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your recent experience of the SCGH ED (Emergency Department) and Short Stay Unit (SSU). It can be such a daunting experience coming to the ED and being in pain – it was so pleasing to read of the care and compassion the staff showed you and your husband and the warm and positive impression this left you with.

I will ensure that your message of thanks is forwarded to the ED and SSU teams.

Thank you again and I do hope that you have recovered well from your surgery.

Kind regards

Jennifer Francis
