"Presenting at Sydney Eye Hospital Emergency"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I arrived in the early evening with symptoms including blurred vision and eye flashes of light in left eye.

I received a CAT scan, angiogram and also was examined by an Eye Specialist. Was there for 6 hours and treated very well. My results were explained quite clearly to me including the same doctor answering a phone call from me the following day with a few questions.

I consider my treatment was very good and I was surprised by the efficiency, not being a regular hospital patient.

Overall quite pleased and appreciative. It would just be good if staff were slightly more communicative about the reason for waiting time.

Dear Pleased and appreciative,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your recent experience at the Sydney Hospital/Sydney Eye Hospital Emergency Department.

I am so glad to hear that you were so thoroughly cared for and that you felt the staff worked efficiently and took the time to explain your results clearly.

Your story has been forwarded to the Nurse Unit Manager who will pass on your suggestion about clearer communication regarding waiting times.

Once again thank you for your feedback, I trust your eye condition is much improved.

Kind regards,

Jennie Barry.

Thanks Jennie,

Just to be clear. I was waiting for a CT scan that had been sent somewhere for assessment and a report. I waited from about 7.30pm (the scan) till after midnight.

All fine, except that during the wait I didn't know how long the process normally was. If I was told that the results are normally at least 3-4 hours then I would have just relaxed and waited.

The issue was that I thought the results were imminent

As I said though a very positive experience, except now it seems to be a hassle to book the recommended visit to the stroke unit. Nobody called so I called them today
