I was diagnosed with Parkinsons’ Disease a number of years ago. A short time after I had ongoing Atrial Fibrillation issues and after three unsuccessful catheter ablation procedures in the years following, I finally had a pacemaker inserted in my chest.
As a consequence of these two health conditions I have regularly used the speech pathology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, health and diet services provided by Allied Health at the Collie District Hospital. With Parkinson’s Disease, I have a six-monthly consultation with my specialist at Collie Hospital and this involves a full medical check-up which involves the professional staff from Allied Health and the hospital nursing staff. I also have an approved GP/Patient Management Plan which also involves the use of Allied Health professional staff.
Since I have needed these services, I have found all the professional staff at Allied Health to be extremely competent, motivated and most helpful. In this time there has been some turnover in staff but I have found all new employees to have the same motivation and eagerness to help. My personal thanks especially applies to the professional staff who I have regularly dealt with over the past few years. I have not named anyone specifically but if these staff read this note then they will know to whom I am referring. The same compliment applies to the nursing staff and office at Collie Hospital and I consider that the people of Collie and surrounding districts are extremely lucky to have such quality health care available at their doorstep.
Keep up the good work.
