"Patient care"

About: Armadale Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

I took my husband to the Emergency Department at Armadale Hospital in the early hours of the morning after waiting, not being seen following a long wait for triage, in a major tertiary hospital for several hours.

He was feeling quite unwell and it turned out to be that he was having significant runs of ventricular tachycardia.

The care given to him by both the medical and nursing staff was exemplary.

At all times we felt that we were in good care. The information given about his condition was addressed at the time and in a way that was clearly understood.

My husband required transfer to another hospital under the care of a cardiologist for further monitoring and treatment and his transfer by ambulance was organised with speed and efficiency.

I cannot thank the staff involved enough for their professionalism, keeping me involved in what was happening and speed with which they worked.

I thank them all very much and wish that I could remember all your names.

Thank you.

Dear hekaxf36,

Thank you so much for getting in touch with us and sharing your lovely comments about the staff who looked after your husband in the Armadale Hospital Emergency Department (ED).

Coming to hospital with a heart condition can be very distressing and I am so glad to hear that our doctors and nurses were on hand to provide your husband with the best possible care.

Communicating well with patients, their families and carers is an important aspect of care and I am very delighted to note that our staff had kept you well informed about your husband’s condition and ensured you understood his treatment.

I will most certainly pass on your kind words and thanks to the team involved in his care.

Thank you again for writing to us and I wish your husband well in his recovery.

Kind regards

Diane Barr
