I am not sure if this will ever get back to the accident and emergency team, but I just wanted to say how appreciative I am with the team at The Royal Perth Hospital. It’s strange thanking people at such an awful time of our families life when my husband passed away in the department, but he had had so much surgery and they were all so complicated that when he had an infected graft there was nothing that could be done. The nurses and doctors were really amazing. I would just like to mention one doctor in particular and that was Nathan. He bent over backwards for my husband. He made sure that every avenue was explored to make sure than any possible change he had was reviewed. He called up other doctors from all the other hospitals in Perth to see if there was anything that could be done. He was so caring and so determined to get the best outcome. The way he treated us with respect and dignity during this horrible time was lovely to see. He was taking care of us as much as my husband. He was thoughtful of our needs and wishes and kept us in the loop at all times. He’s not even a consultant yet, but what a great consultant he will make and be a credit to the department. His boss, David, who was the head of the department was involved in this difficult situation and he was great too.
How they do this day in and day out with the great care they deliver in such a busy department is beyond us. But we are so lucky that we have such a great service on our doorstep!
