"Lack of Care and Communication"

I am so angry and upset at the way my elderly mother's care at this hospital was.  She went in with a fall that broke her knee cap. She was operated on a day later, then had to go and have it operated on two days later again because the wires didn't hold.  My anger does not in any way go towards the Surgeon or the Nurses that looked after her.  I am upset and angry that she was operated on the second time in the morning and then sent home that afternoon.  She lives by herself, as I live almost 13,00 kms away. I have a young family of my own and work full time and for me to drop everything and go takes some time to organise.  I believe the Physio or the Social Worker should have offered Respite while she recovers not to just send her home to fend for herself, especially at her age - not being able to walk properly, shower herself or go to the toilet.  Why aren't these measures put into action when you have patients leaving hospital who live by themselves?  Now she has to make her way back to the hospital to correct what should have been sorted while she was there!
