"Emergency ward unable to take blood sample"

About: Ipswich Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

Partner rang hotline and was advised to go to hospital. On arrival at emergency gave urine sample. An hour later nurse unable to take blood sample - hour and half later still waiting for someone to take blood sample after being told twice would be next. Waited another half hour and partner told nurse was too cold, sick and tired of waiting to keep using the one toilet frequently  -  3 hours wait for someone to take a blood sample that never happened. In my opinion - disgusting!

Dear Lynxts78

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you experienced a long wait in our Emergency Department. As you can appreciate, circumstances and situations can change very quickly in an environment where extremely unwell patients are being cared for and treated.

The use of our Emergency Department Triage system enables us to provide care and treatment to all members of the community in a timely fashion, with unwell and unstable patients being seen first.

We would really appreciate the opportunity to discuss your presentation with you and invite you to contact a Senior Consumer Liaison Officer during business hours on 0409 275 503 or email at WMH_CLO@health.qld.gov.au.

Kind regards

Consumer Liaison Office

West Moreton Hospital and Health Service
