"Inappropriate conduct"

About: Bunbury Hospital

(as a carer),

My wife was admitted to hospital through ED then to medical and then to Sub Acute.

The care and attention was brilliant with all the staff including the doctor caring for my wife - including me in all the steps for my wife's well-being and recovery.

Sadly while in Sub Acute my wife rang me early one morning, very distraught. She said she had been verbally abused by one of the night nurses. She was told she was acting like a spoiled brat, and that she was not the only patient in the ward. My wife has severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, has a low sodium level and has contracted pneumonia. She is mostly 10/10 with her pain level. All she was asking for was for some more pain relief. I feel this nurse who was rushing off to the city after shift, may have had other issues. But if so, I believe this was unfair to speak to any patient the way she did.

Update posted by felt comfortable (a carer)

Hi Glen,

Thank you for your time today with talking about addressing my wife's issue.

The SARU Nurse Unit Manager, Donna, handled the situation in a timely and professional manner, and all the kind wishes from all the staff connected made the situation better and helped relieve my wife's angst about complaining.

Many thanks to all concerned.
