"Failure to attend"

About: House Call Doctor

(as the patient),

My husband called House Call Doctor recently one evening at approximately 1930 hrs. I had been unwell all day but was feeling worse that evening. I had developed a rash mid afternoon, after being febrile and suffering from severe headaches and nausea for 20 hours. I had been taking Panadol 4/24 for the entire period, but my fever was not responding to this. When my husband rang the service he was warned that the doctor may take 2 hours to arrive, as there was only one doctor working on the Sunshine Coast that evening. We received several texts while waiting for the doctor saying there were considerable delays, and asking for our patience. Never were we warned that after midnight that doctor was off duty and there would be no follow-on service provided by another Doctor. We received a text at midnight to inform us that the doctor would not be attending as he had finished his shift. There was no option of another doctor attending to me! If I had been notified of this protocol I would have attended the Emergency Department our local Noosa Hospital.

I felt very frustrated!
