"Palliative Care"

About: Community Nursing (Bass Coast Health)

(as a relative),

My husband was nearing the end of his life. We hoped to keep him at home. Bass Coast Palliative Care made this possible. I am in awe of the women who came to our home to help us. You were kind, gentle, professional. You gave us time to think every step of the way, you were clear, honest and tactful. All your dealings with us were marked by sensitivity and skill. You took in our situation and who we are in your quiet ways and helped us give my husband the very best of love and care in his last days. Am I overstating this? Not one bit. We could not have done it without you and I send you my deepest gratitude.

Dear fantail,

It took me a while to reply to this because each time I opened it and read it, I was struck by the emotion in your words; the sensitivity of your situation, and the kindness that you showed in providing us with your feedback. I know that all of the staff who work in our Palliative Care service will feel very privileged to have been able to support you and your husband with your wishes. I hope you are doing ok and I am so very sorry for your loss.

Best wishes to you.

Jan.
