A friend had an infection in her face. Presented at a rural hospital ED (Pingelly). Despite a swollen face, the nurse told her a surgeon was busy and so she could not be seen. No antibiotics could be prescribed until lancing was done. No doctor was called. Three hours later I took her to a rural hospital in the opposite direction (Beverley). Within 5 minutes she was assessed. Within 40 minutes the doctor saw her and antibiotics were prescribed and given. Why is quality of care not consistent?
