"Assessment"

About: Kerang Hospital

(as the patient),

Staff were very thorough and helpful. They were very kind and considerate and friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to go there next time I'm unwell, if there's no doctors available. They explained what they were doing and I was put at ease straight away.

Dear Assessment,

Thank you for your comments and I am really pleased that you found the nurses kind and considerate, and that they explained what they were doing.

You bring up a really interesting point about when there are no doctors available. This is often the case now. When you come to our hospital the nurses will assess you and take your history, and then they will work with you (and or your family) about the best way to get the care that you need. This will depend on what you are presenting with.

Many people think that because we are a hospital, we always have Doctors here, and that is not the case. The Doctors in most rural towns like ours work in the clinic up the street, and come to the hospital to care for the patients who they have admitted, who require hospital care. Additionally, our ambulance service is very highly skilled and well set up to support people needing emergency care, and we have amazing retrieval services if people have life threatening health concerns. So please be reassured that a whole system approach is being taken for each person who walks in the doors to our hospital who need care.

Kind Regards

Chloe
