"Constant wait"

About: Broome Health Campus / Emergency Department Broome Health Campus / Specialist Outpatients

(as a parent/guardian),

My young child had a paediatric appointment at 9am. Due to being a single mother and having to work, I asked the lady when making the appointment, if we would be seen straight away being the first appointment. She advised being the first person we will be on time. 

Definitely not the case. I feel an hour wait for an appointment made 2 weeks prior is absolutely ridiculous. Missing out on an hours pay because the hospital and the staff aren’t organised is not an ideal situation for myself or my child. This has happened almost every time I have made an appointment or visited the hospital. Waiting in ED I don’t think I’ve ever been seen within a 3 hour wait time. 

Something seriously needs to be done. In my opinion, the system is a joke. 

Not happy at all..

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. It has allowed us to look into the scheduling issues that caused your delay in outpatients. Our paediatrician has offered to contact you directly to apologise personally for the delay and to re-arrange another appointment time where you will not be subjected to a wait. We understand how difficult it is to be juggling work and small children and doctors appointments, and we need to try to do better than this.

Your feedback will assist us in reviewing our scheduling processes, so thank you once again.
