My child was admitted with an anaphylactic reaction. The staff was amazing. Could not ask for better.
However, food services has tarnished a stellar visit. Having allergies I am understanding of the need for policy and procedure. However, when you watch the nursing staff spend over an hour and 20 minutes trying to ensure procedure is met, watching them grapple with a less then useful electronic system and having to juggle patient care with procedural requirement, you can’t but observe the palpable frustration.
Specifically overhearing a phone call to the food services supervisor only to hear the final response being - it’s 6.02 and we can’t provide a meal.
Food is an essential service in healthcare and observing this system highlighted that some serious improvement is required.
