"My mother entering care"

About: Angliss Hospital Glengollan Village

(as a relative),

Due to the Angliss Hospital, in my opinion, leaving my mother in worse condition than when she arrived, I was all of a sudden forced to find accommodation for my mother as I believe the hospital wanted her bed. So my decision was rushed. It was only that Glengollan had a vacancy and it was convenient for me. I only had 2 days to make a decision. On a walk-through by the head of nursing, it appeared to be a nice place for my mother. I was told that the meals were buffet style, but now I know that does not happen in the upstairs section where my mother is. Over various days I am yet to see a variety of vegetables being served as part of the meal. Most of the staff are very caring, even though they are light-on. I have asked that they make sure that she joins in activities, but I don't know if that is happening. I feel at a loss to know who to talk to and find out anything as the staff work different shifts. Her wheelchair has had flat tyres from the beginning, despite telling various staff members.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on Patient Opinion. I am able to respond to the feedback you provided about your experience at Angliss Hospital. I am sorry that you had such a poor experience at Angliss Hospital, particularly that you felt that your mother deteriorated whilst in care and that you felt rushed to find accommodation for her. This is not the experience that we would wish for our patients and their families.
