I had a terrible labour experience at Box Hill Hospital. I had a third degree tear during my labour due to forcep birth. They made me wait from 1:30pm till 7:30pm to get into the operating theatre to get stitched up. I waited 6 hours for my tear to get stitched up. I had an open wound and lost so much blood because seems they didn't prioritise me to get into theatre first. The main complaint I have is on a Saturday they only had one doctor and one operating room open. In my opinion, they should have more doctors on shift and more operating theatres open not just one. I believe they should have stitched me up straight away because I had an open wound. I think I should have been prioritised. I believe that open wound could have gotten infected and blood continued to be lost while waiting for my turn. They also sent me downstairs at 5pm next to the operating theatre. I thought it was my turn to get stitched up at 5pm, but instead had to wait until 7:30pm for my turn. I believe the reason they sent me downstairs to wait was so my family doesn't question the midwives and doctors about when will I go into theatre. My family members thought they were operating on me at 5pm when they sent me downstairs. Little did they know I was still waiting for my turn. Also after the operation the doctor didn't insert a catheter. According to nurses and midwives the doctor should have inserted a catheter after my stitches getting placed.
