"Television or the lack of it."

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

(as a relative),

The television service in the dialysis unit is appalling, some TV's don't work at all and on others you can only access one station, if you are lucky. It is hard enough having to undergo dialysis three times a week for four hours at a time without some way of passing the time. My wife is undergoing dialysis as a private patient, but it seems even that does not guarantee a quality television experience.

Dear sigmayb39

We know that television is important to our dialysis patients who are limited in what they are able to do whilst receiving treatment, and it is important to us that this service is available. I apologise that this has not been the case for your wife.

I have looked into this matter with assistance from the Clinical Nurse Manager for the dialysis unit and the televisions have been reported and assessed by the SCGH electricians. A technician from the company that supplies the television will be here tomorrow to either repair the television or to tell us what needs to happen so that we can fix this as soon as possible.

I am sorry that this process has taken a while, and we aim to get them working as soon as possible. Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention and I will ensure to post a follow-up response when further information is available.

Kind regards

Janet Zagari

Dear sigmayb39

Further to my reply last week, I wanted to let you know that the televisions in the Dialysis Unit have now been checked by the technician and repairs and replacements have been completed. All the televisions are now in proper working order.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and for your patience.

Kind regards

Janet Zagari
