"Final care of both parents"

About: Bupa Berwick

(as a relative),

In the last days of them both departing the care of my father was, in my opinion, inhumane… Dad had up to 12 falls from his bed and they never put a mattress on floor next to his bed, but allowed him to continually smash himself on concrete floor. Only after his last falls, with so much bruising to his face, they then intervened. I’d asked nurses to do this earlier but nothing was done. After they put a mattress for Dad I wrote to the head staff and said that it was a little too late. They responded saying that my sibling was in charge and had said he was meant to be left as normal as possible. I felt broken about which I believe was ruthless, callous behaviour from them.

My mother had developed necrotic bedsores and I wasn't told until a few days before she passed, but when I knew and they changed her she was stripped and not covered with a warm cover, just left naked on tummy for about 20mins while they cleaned her. In my opinion, not good enough at all. I believe that the owners of this home are responsible for more staff and care not dollar driven very sorry to say this. But facts.
