I have been a service user for several years now, and in my opinion, since Australian Unity has taken over the service and the communication has become a major issue.
I have asked for a particular person to be my service person, I was told that I was on their permanent list.
I have no idea what has happened - if they have given notice or been assigned another area or requested a change of the work that they are doing.
I have had 3 different assists in the last 6 weeks (I have a fortnightly service).
It seems that Australian Unity does not deem me important enough to communicate with me. Not even to tell me that there has been a change of person or a change of time. I know that care assistance is much more important than household assistance but I do not appreciate being treated as though I am not to be considered.
I do all that I can to remain as independent as possible, which means that I have limited access to assistance.
This does not mean that I don't suffer or that trying to do things doesn't come with pain etc., it just means that I put up with it and do my best.
I am so over it at the moment.
I am not saying that all of the assistance that I have had is not good enough, but some are and some aren't. I am saying that I would like to be able to expect a given person at a given time.
I will be looking for another supplier, I think.
