"My current experience at Bunbury Hospital"

About: Bunbury Hospital

(as the patient),

I severed the tendon on the top of my foot and went up to Bunbury Regional Hospital from Margaret River the next day to have an emergency repair. It went well and was a good experience.

But the repair failed the next week and now I have had to travel to Bunbury 2 days in a row to be turned around and sent home. Today I sat there all day and was sent home. I was told to come back on Friday. Travelling to Bunbury means my husband has to drive up and back twice a day. That's 4 hours of driving! Hopefully I can get in on Friday, because I will start to feel pretty disappointed if I don't.

Dear Floppy Toe

Thank you for posting on Patient Opinion. I apologise for the delay you have experienced in getting the surgery you need and for the burden of the travel.

If you could contact Geoff Williamson, Deputy Director Medical Services on 9722 1426 so we can assist that would be appreciated.

Regards

Glen Matters

Dear Floppy Toe,

I have spoken to the surgeon and occupational therapist about your needs.

Hopefully all goes smoothly and according to plan this afternoon.

Update posted by Floppy Toe (the patient)

I was sent home yet again today after being guaranteed a spot. I've been told to come up again on Monday, whereby I may or may not get in again. Is there another alternative? Is it at all possible to get a firm appointment time?

Hi Floppy Toe,

As we discussed on the phone this morning, I am so sorry that you were cancelled because of other patients needing more urgent surgery.

You are confirmed for surgery this afternoon. I am organising OT to discuss your post-operative needs with you.

Again, I’m so sorry for the cancellations.

Regards

Geoff Williamson
