"Emergency and cardiac care"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

A couple of weeks ago I went to emergency at Prince of Wales Hospital due to rapid atrial flutter - about 145bpm. I was taken in to a very crowded emergency ward and put on a magnesium drip; when that didn't work I was immediately admitted overnight. The next day various procedures were followed through and the condition stabilised.

Throughout, the staff were courteous, kind, extremely detailed, precise in their explanations. I was amazed at the concern shown and the attention given, especially since the place was crowded with patients all requiring fairly constant assistance. One man was close to abusive because he was concerned at how long treatment was taking: staff dealt with this in the quietest and least confrontational way.

I was very impressed.
