Last year, I was unfortunate to experience a heart attack. The ambulance service were incredibly quick to respond, and I was taken to Box Hill Hospital. Within a short time I had been admitted, and had a stent put in. The care I received at every point on the day of my heart attack was wonderful.
Following this, I was referred for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at the Angliss Community Rehab Centre. Going into the program, I didn’t want to do it – I am not overly sporty. However, having now completed the program, it was a great experience. I am so very grateful for all the people involved in the program; staff, cardiac nurses, volunteers, and all the people they invited to give talks. Everyone was so welcoming, and it was clear that they honestly cared. When they helped you through the program, even when you weren’t sure whether you were doing something right, you never felt stupid. I felt as though my welfare was important, and from what I could see, individual attention was given to every single person in the group. It was such a positive experience for everyone.
After this experience, I have even thought about volunteering myself. This program is so wonderful, I think that it needs to be extended – even doubled! Thank you all so much for everything.
