While on holiday from the UK, my wife tripped and broke both of her ankles. Immediately, a group of young men came over and gave assistance until the ambulance arrived. She was taken first to Busselton Hospital where she received friendly, compassionate care until being transferred to Bunbury Regional Hospital for surgery. It took a week for the swelling on her left ankle to reduce sufficiently for surgery and a week after surgery before she was deemed fit to be flown home to a UK hospital.
Throughout her time in both hospitals, she received top class care. In particular, all of the staff at Bunbury, nurses, orderlies and doctors, did everything to make her as comfortable as possible. Friendly, helpful, approachable, understanding - they were beyond excellent. The whole experience, although entirely unwelcome, left us with a deep admiration for Australia, Australian's and the Western Australia Health Service. We have a huge debt of gratitude to everybody who contributed to getting her fit to return home.
Many, many thanks.
