I first entered Logan house about one month ago for alcohol abuse.
I always liked to have a drink growing up from the age of 18 or so.
I moved to Sydney when I was 23, not knowing anyone except my partner. I left my family and friends in QLD whom I'm very close to. Being alone in a new place and not knowing anyone made me really down. The relationship I was in was going down the drain, caused loneliness, so that's when I started drinking more.
Eventually I left that part of my life behind and met someone else.
I witnessed seeing a man I very much loved die, very painfully till his last breath. Cancer.
After that I used alcohol to cope. Just got worse and worse, without even realising it. The substance took over. I lost my licence twice for drink driving, went to court, did community service. Finally when I completed my charges, I moved back to Brisbane. Me the love of my life. Little did I know he was an addict once too. He picked up my secret behaviours and confronted me. I was embarrassed at first. So after countless amounts of blood tests and being in hospital, ECG's - finally I got a MRI. It showed up that I have a certain type of epilepsy. I have too much fluid on my brain and if I kept drinking the way I was I wouldn't live long into my 30's (I'm early 30's now). So it really was life or death. That's what brought me to Logan House.
I'm very thankful for their amazing support and help. The knowledge I've learnt has been amazing and I truly feel myself again. I cant wait to start my sober life again.
