About: The Royal Women's Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

My surgical care was truly amazing and I will be ever thankful for the incredible skill, kindness and life saving treatment I had in The RWH (Royal Women's Hospital). I am at home now and recovering very quickly too. Professionalism in every area from the surgical team, has seen a very good outcome for me

However, the food served was beyond belief. When one is unwell post surgery, the prospect of something small, healthy and appetising is very important.

The Mediterranean fish on offer was truly disgusting and looked so unappetising too. I left it, even though I was hungry. Food service staff did not offer anything else when the meal was uneaten. A noodle n vegetable dish again was devoid of any flavour whatsoever. Also left uneaten.

I felt all meals had been chosen from caterers for their rock bottom price and not for patient's nutrition and enjoyment. I felt, even the biscuits were the bottom line type. Oh how I yearned for just one cream or jam biscuit with a cup of tea.

I am not a fussy eater and devour aeroplane food with glee.

My fridge in the RWH was filled with grapes and lychees that I had luckily brought from home. I really needed to eat these.

I was an in patient for only 2 nights, but if I had to stay any longer, friends and family would have been asked to bring food to me.

Truly, the meals are very far from acceptable and deviate hugely from when I was last an in patient at The RWH, many years ago when I gave birth to my baby.
