"Geraldton Emergency Department staff"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was recently bought in from Kalbarri to the emergency department in Geraldton.

I was bought in for chest pain queries.

From the very moment I came in, I felt relieved by the absolute care and attention that I received from not only the doctors, but the nursing staff and also the PCA's on duty.

I had tests and x-rays within 30 mins of arriving and was continually updated by the doctor and nurses on duty as to what their plan of action was. I felt I was in great hands.

When coming to hospital alone and anxious on why I had to go in the first place, I was settled instantly. Even the little things like constant offering's of a cup of tea and something to eat. I was even told I could stay overnight if need be until my husband could drive up the next day, rather than him driving at such a late time of the night.

Luckily there was no need to stay as I have family in town.

When I was discharged the doctor on duty said to me, it's late would you like to take a sandwich with you? (My stomach was making noises, he must have heard :) )

Everyone was so caring.

Thank you all for your kindness.

I think Mark Twain once said: Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.

Keep up the amazing work everyone.

Dear marsgz58

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful compliment about the team at the Geraldton Hospital Emergency Department. I'm so pleased that we were able to make what would have been a stressful situation for you a little less so and that all of the staff played such a pivotal role in helping you through your healthcare journey.

I do love that quote “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see” it is so true. The act of kindness is really quite simple, a few extra minutes of listening without interruption or a warm smile provides a sense of comfort and calm during what may be a stressful, emotional and chaotic time for our patients. I have seen first hand how these little displays of kindness can enhance a patient's experience and ultimately lead to positive patient outcomes.

I know that our staff at the Geraldton Hospital strive to provide high quality, compassionate person-centred care and it is through feedback such as yours that reinforces that we are doing it well. I will take great pleasure in passing your compliment on to the team.

Thanks again for taking the time to write, we really value your feedback. I do hope you are well and truly on the mend and I wish you all the very best for the future.

Warm regards

Michele
