"Suicide attempt"

About: Armadale Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was distressed and tried to commit suicide. I had been drinking heavily but made my way to ED. The nursing staff treated me with respect and compassion. When my Blood Alcohol Level (BAL) dropped below. 05 I got to talk to Paul. A fellow countryman (from my homeland), he was caring, compassionate and professional. I really felt like he truly cared.

Dear Bofh

Thank you very much for getting in contact with us and sharing your story.

Your feedback on the compassion demonstrated by our nursing staff is so very important to us. Every day our Emergency Department teams commit to providing professional care. At Armadale I am particularly proud of how very kind and caring our emergency team are.

I can’t imagine what you must have been going through during your visit. It is heart-warming to know Paul and the team made a difference.

Sharing your very personal journey is so powerful in supporting the work that our emergency teams do. They will be very pleased to get the positive feedback. I will ensure your words are relayed back to Paul “I really felt like he truly cared”.

Thank you once again for writing to us, and I wish you all the best.

Kind regards

Di Barr
