After burning my hand at work, I developed cellulitis and went to Emergency at Prince of Wales (POW) late on a Sunday afternoon. I’ve had experience with cellulitis before, so knew it was important to get onto antibiotics ASAP. I was given oral antibiotics and told to return if there was no improvement or continued spreading of the cellulitis in 48 hours. After returning to hospital to be treated with IV antibiotics, the staff suggested I was a candidate for Post Acute Care Services (PACS) at home or Hospital in the Home.
What an amazing service the wonderful staff provide to the community. It enabled me to remain at home with my family and freed up resources at the hospital for patients with greater needs. The staff who looked after me over the next week, including the weekend, were extremely professional, knowledgeable, efficient, helpful and friendly, always arriving during the allocated time to perform their duties with great care.
Long may this service continue and my sincere thanks to all the staff who assisted with my recovery.
